George A. Abert (May 10, 1817 – October 14, 1890) was an American manufacturer and politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly during the 1800s. ==Early life== Abert was born in Soultz-sous-Forêts, Alsace, France. He immigrated to Newark, New York before settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1836.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Term: Abert, George 1817 - 1890 )〕 In Milwaukee, Abert worked with Byron Kilbourn making land surveys and laying out roads. A manufacturer by trade, he built the first bakery in Milwaukee in 1839 and the first iron foundry in Milwaukee in 1866.
